21:36 pb Ballintotis 4mile
First of all i want to say this was one of the best organised race i have been to. It is technically a local race now since Meabh's family home is like 5 minutes away and John (her dad was a steward) and Norm (Mum) was there to cheer me on.
This was a very different race for me because there wasn't a chance i was going to get into the top 3. Major line up Mike Harty, Tim O'Donoghue Shane Collins, Conor McAuley etc Aim was to get into top 20 but really it was a good race to test myself and to try and get closer to 21 mins. So i was planning to race Aidan, Nicky and Darragh.
So the race kicked off and in the first mile i was nicely in a pack going through first mile in 5:13 which was probably a bit quick because the first mile is a bit hilly. I had to make a decision whether to stick with them. I got a bit scared and thought i need to do this 3 more time. So i lost contact in that couple of seconds of what i was going to do.
Next mile i was on my own and went through in 10:43 (5:30mile), i was running into the wind on my own. 3rd mile 16:16(5:29) i got caught by 3 runners i beat in the cork county road championships. They made me pick up the pace and finished in 21:36(5:20).
I really needed a pacer at around 21:20 which i think i could have ran if i paced properly. But its the start of be trying to move up to the next level.
